Recurring invoices and retainers

Set up automatic recurring invoices for retainer clients, subscription services, or any work that repeats on a regular schedule.

When to use recurring invoices

  • Monthly retainers (design, copywriting, consulting)
  • Ongoing maintenance contracts
  • Subscription-based services
  • Any client relationship with a predictable billing cycle

Creating a recurring invoice

  1. 1Go to Invoices > Recurring and click "New recurring invoice."
  2. 2Select the client and set the line items, amount, and frequency (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually).
  3. 3Choose a start date and optional end date.
  4. 4Ratio generates the invoice automatically on each cycle and sends it to the client.

Combine with autopay for hands-free billing

If the client has autopay enabled, recurring invoices are charged automatically on the due date. No manual follow-up needed.
